No-exam life insurance
Who qualifies for immediate decisions, how the process works, and what happens if you don't qualify.
Many insurers now offer accelerated underwriting: for certain ages and amounts, they decide using your answers, pharmacy history, driving record, and other data rather than a paramedical exam. Some approvals arrive the same day. Each quote shows whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not needed.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting does not skip underwriting. Your application is verified, and policies issued on wrong information may be contested in the first two years. The carrier may request exam or lab work if its research raises questions; you decide at that point whether to continue.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants under about 60 applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated threshold, no significant health issues, and no tobacco use in the previous year or longer. Recent doctor work with blood tests often works instead of a medical exam.
When an exam is required, a paramedical examiner typically visits your home or workplace in the Stanton area for 20 to 30 minutes, at no charge. For applicants in good health, exam results frequently lead to a better rate class, so the process can actually work in your favor.
